Areas of special interest |
In my five years of working in mainstream residential units, I have gained valuable experience and developed a strong understanding of trauma informed care.
I have gained intense experience with children & teenagers in care with complex needs and difficulties who have experienced childhood trauma. Trauma & Attachment difficulties are my area of interest, in helping children build resilience and empowering them to overcome their difficulties.
I have experience in the utilisation of creative interventions and building a therapeutic relationships with children of ages 2-17 years old.
I have also worked with children and young people ranging from having mild adjustment issues (stressful events such as parental separation, anxiety, school refusal, bereavement, hospitalization, struggling with developmental challenges or a single incident trauma).
I believe that through play therapy, supporting a child or young person through building therapeutic play in a supportive environment where a child can express themselves, process emotions and develop coping skills is the key to change, healing, problem solving and self discovery.
