Supervision

Supervision is a formal and mutually agreed arrangement for play therapists and psychotherapists to discuss their work regularly with an accredited supervisor who is normally an experienced and competent play therapist and/or psychotherapist and also has extensive experience and training in the process of supervision.

IAPTP has 2 categories of registered supervisors who must meet stringent criteria:

  1. Accredited supervisors (BL 15) who must also be accredited by IAPTP as a Play Therapist or Psychotherapist with a specialisation in play therapy;
  2. Approved supervisors (BL 16) may be members of a different professional body and will have considerable experience in the practice of play therapy or and/or creative arts approaches in therapeutic work with children and/or young people.
