Areas of special interest

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and Play Therapist with a special interest in Developmental Trauma, Attachment, Neuroscience and Sensory Somatic Psychotherapy. My primary degree is a 4-year Primary teaching BEd degree. I have 15 years teaching experience. I have a post-graduate diploma in Special Needs Ed with Froebel teaching college. I completed my post-graduate diploma in Play therapy in 2015 and a Masters in Psychotherapy and Play therapy in 2017. As a clinician, I provide one to one play therapy and psychotherapy sessions with children. I also provide support for parents, social workers, and teachers, in education about how children and adult brains work and on the interpersonal neurobiology of our relationships with each other. Information and techniques are practical, informing how to approach discipline, how to help children deal with everyday struggles, and how parents, carers and teachers can connect with children they care for in every day life. My approach to my clinical practice is grounded in humanist philosophy which views humans as having the ability within themselves to reach their highest potential given the right environment. At the heart of my practice is belief in the powerful healing that takes place in the therapeutic relationship that develops between the child and the therapist.
