Becoming an IAPTP
Accredited Supervisor
Policy 15 details the criteria required to achieve full accreditation with IAPTP as a supervisor. Application to become an IAPTP Accredited Supervisor are accepted from IAPTP accredited members who meet the standards set in this policy.
The Accreditation Committee process applications twice each year: April and October. Applications must be received well in advance of each meeting. Applicants should complete the online Supervisor Accreditation application Form BL 15 attaching the relevant documents. When your application is received you will be emailed an invoice which you can pay online to initiate the application process.
The documents you will need to upload with your accreditation application are:
- Accreditation certificate/s
- Play Therapist qualification certificate
- Supervisor qualification certificate
- Supervisor Report
- Copy of Professional Insurance
Accreditation as a supervisor with IAPTP will be valid up until the date of next re-accreditation as play therapist, and/or psychotherapist with a specialisation in play therapy, and will be renewed as part of that process.
Becoming an IAPTP Approved Supervisor
Policy 16 details the criteria required to achieve approval with IAPTP as a supervisor. While not necessarily accredited play therapists with IAPTP, approved supervisors will be accredited as supervisors with other suitable professional bodies and have considerable experience in the practice of play therapy and/or creative approaches in therapeutic work with children and/or young people.
Approved supervisor status will be for a period of 5 years after which it may be renewed.
